The Leigh Avenue Post-Occupancy Evaluation report examines the living experiences of residents in a permanent supportive housing (PSH) apartment unit in San Jose, California, assessing the functionality of private and public spaces based on feedback from paper surveys. This project was significant as it served low-income individuals and those formerly homeless, many of whom experienced trauma. I researched design practices that support this population, focusing on Trauma-Informed Design (TID), which aims to create safe and healing environments. A challenge faced was that the project was not originally designed as a PSH apartment, resulting in a lack of TID principles. After analyzing the survey data, I collaborated with the lead architects to develop recommendations for improvements, aiming to create a more supportive and welcoming environment that meets the residents' needs.
