This housing scheme aims to foster intergenerational relationships among families and individuals in Bed-Stuy. It explores various scales: neighborhood interactions, building public programs, and personal unit experiences. The design draws from spatial analyses of NYC public sites and Caribbean placemaking practices in Bed-Stuy. I identified public space characteristics that influence user comfort and accessibility. My experiences growing up in NYC highlighted how limited access to these spaces significantly impacts relationship-building and community cohesion. The scheme provides flexible, personable spaces, encouraging users to adapt them creatively as they envision and as time permits.
